The third printing of Alan Hodgkinson's book that was first released in 2015 is now available. With Alan stepping back from teaching gemmology this will likely be the last printing of Gem Testing Techniques by the Hodgkinson family.

Beyond the initial launch when books are not limited, we will release a small quantity of books each month for sale. When we release books online we will announce this on our Facebook page.
This allows us to fit our other work commitments and lives around selling the book.

We are not a 'fast turnaround' business. In most instances, we will ship your book within three weeks of payment clearance, however it may take longer than this.

It took Alan Hodgkinson a lifetime of gemmological exploration to create the content for Gem Testing Techniques. We think the book is worth waiting for and we hope you agree!

First Edition Copies

We occasionally have a first edition copy of Gem Testing Techniques available from the first print run.

This first edition had a print run of 1000 copies in 2015 and features a 'sapphire' blue binding.

Correction from first edition

We found one error in the First Edition (though there may be others) which has been corrected in the subsequent reprints and that correction followed through to instances in the index. Page 392, Feld-18a, bytownite changed to labradorite.
There were a few minor graphic errors in the second printing i.e. where arrows had slipped on imagery that have been corrected in this third printing.
There are bound to be other errors we haven't spotted yet.
